NINTENDO WII IS THE HOTNESS!!!

Public

Just got it today from my man Moordread (dude I dont know what truck you stole this off of presale but I love you!!!) The only titles I have are the sports game and the new zelda title and omg its hot. The controls are totally innovative. My favorite of everything so far is the golf sports game. I love golf but lets face it, its freaking cold out in the uk right now and my knickers are going outside if they dont have to Razz I cleared out an area in my office today and I probably golfed for three hours before I realized how much time had passed. All the girls that work for me thought I was nuts and then I passed the buck. I have two ditsy blondes that dont know which end of the fork goes in their mouths and three women that are over 50 and all of them were like wtf where can I get one. This system is going to turn some heads and finally get people off the couch and into the games. I can seriously see this system changing the way people will want their game formats in. This is going to open the door to games that were only thought of before. If you havent checked one out yet or have money to burn and you can find one in a store near you definitely check it out. Included in this post are a list of titles out and coming. Hope you all get to have some fun with one, if you have one let us know what you think!!!

Monkey Ball owns. Trauma Center owns. Zelda owns. Wii Sports owns.

That is all.

PS: The Wii owns.

Argh

If they have any available tomorrow at the Nintendo Store, I might pick one up. They said they sold out the recent shipment earlier but they're getting more tomorrow.

I also read that the old gamecube platform games are usable as-is.

apparently unlike the PS3, Wii has a "launch hit" title in the new Zelda game.

That's the only reason I'm caving in

Zelda alone makes it interesting. Might pick up an addition Wiimote and Nunchuck so that I can pummel a friend (or get pummeled) in Wiisports. Sucks that the component cables are sold out EVERYWHERE for this thing. Ugh.

Nice :)

I have to wait until December 8 to get one - but it looks pretty awesome, so I think I'm gonna buy one. Also because that is the kind of innovation I want to support (as opposed to 'better graphics...again')

The reason I haven't been on

The reason I haven't been on lately, is because of the Wii. I must say, Red Steel is fraking awesome. If you don't have money for any games, Wii Sports will hold you untill you can afford one. The only side effect, is my arms are quite tired and aching from all the sword fights.

I hear you with the

I hear you with the innovation. I was getting kind of tired of the modified, specialized gaming PC-in-a-box idea that most consoles were becoming. I really don't care how fast their processors are or how beefy the graphics are, that stuff doesn't produce fun.

This whole new controller concept sounds pretty neat, but I still have my reservations. I'm all about playing the sports games with this kind of controller. Getting off the stupid couch to actually do something in a game is a great idea. My main concern is how long people will remain interested in this new controller idea. I'm sure they'll be playing the sports games forever, but will they tire of guiding Mario around the castle like that?

I'm actually kind of excited to try one out. Hopefully a rich friend will get one for Christmas or something.

at first the new zelda game

at first the new zelda game made me think I was gonna have to buy another new system...but then saw it was also coming out in a couple weeks for gamecube, which I already have Smiling But then if the GC's ver isnt widescreen, ack. The wii supports hi-def resolutions, right??

Kylain's picture

No HD

It does output to 480p if you can get your hands on the ever elusive component cables for it. From most reports, it seems to clean up the graphics quite a bit at 480p. But no HD resolutions (720p and above).

Wow, the Wii really impresses me! That's exactly the kind of innovation I'm looking for. Sure, the graphics aren't as hot as the PS3, but that always comes in time. The unique gameplay with the Wiimote and Nunchuck can really open up some new doors in gaming, assuming it catches on. I, for one, would really like to try it out.

Now, if they're smart they'll start marketing the Wiimote and Nunchuck for the PC. Anyone heard if there are plans for this?

Motion sensor technology has been around a long time. I still have the motion sensor MS joypad somewhere, but the lack of PC games that utilized it was next to nil.

I played my brother's wii over the holidays... might be able to afford one on my next paycheck. I -am- getting one, though. My birthday is coming up in march... *flutters eyelashes at relatives*

I had tons of fun with Rayman's Raging Rabbits... who's surprised? I could have played that one all night.

Otherwise, it was fun to stand there with my 56 year old mom (whose computer know how extends to "pc goes on, pc goes off. pc goes on, pc goes off..."), both of us having no clue, and swinging our fists around as we futilely try to knock each other out on the sports boxing game.

It's definitely the most fun I've ever had, and also the first time in my life I've ever wanted to buy a console gaming system for myself.

I got one over the holiday's

I got one over the holiday's and it was so much fun playing with my family.. they all got a kick out of creating their own personal Mii's that looked like them.. One of the days I was out and I came back home to see my mom and dad playing wii sports. These are parents who never were into video games and wondered how as an adult I still enjoyed them Smiling Nintendo definately did a kick ass job making a system everyone can have fun playing..

Still out of stock whenever I check. This is ridiculous.

I can find a PS3 without a problem but a Wii? Nope. Beat Up

My friend who works in a

My friend who works in a video game store said they kept track of the number of calls asking for the PS3 or the Wii, 19 for PS3 and 196 for the Wii. Sony must be bleeding in terms of sales for the PS3. They lose money for every system sold, but Nintendo MAKES money for every Wii they sold.

O. M. G. I'm floored.

O. M. G.

I'm floored. Really. I thought it would be totally gimmicky and I'd get bored with it in a couple of minutes. BZZZZZT! Wrong!

The only reason I stopped playing was when I noticed I was getting tired and really breaking a sweat playing Wii Sports Boxing. When finances allow it and if the rush for these systems die down a bit for retailers can hold stock, get one. In the NYC area, it's still hard as hell getting one. I lucked out somehow but people are waiting in line in front of the Nintendo Store every morning at a chance at snagging one.

This is just ... wow. And I haven't even cracked open Zelda yet. Beat Up

Breaking a sweat playing the Wii??? Pleaaaasssee.

The guy looks freakishly like Tiny Tim. Yeah, the video is tongue in cheek but the ceiling fan trick does work. I hear people clamoring over Wii sports but when you don't even have to be there to "play" the game so I kind of take the no-friendo fanbois with a grain of salt.

Kylain's picture

LOL!

Yeah, I saw that video before when it was linked on Kotaku. But regardless of what you might think, ~30 minutes of "shadow boxing" does break a sweat. Sure, you can do it the uber lazy way and make tiny motions but what's the fun in that?

Guess I'll see the reactions of friends if I end up hosting the Superbowl party at my place this year.

No doubt it'll get boring in time [Wii Sports] in single player mode. Only thing that'll probably hold my interest is bowling and golf. But as a "party" machine, it has a lot of promise.

I was on a wait and see side of the Wii till my coworkers got one and they were telling me how much "fun" it is. Finally got off my butt, went out looking for one and after getting one, I can agree with them.

Their online friend code bull annoys the hell out of me though. Razz

DC Area

EB Games in White Flint has had the Wii in stock since just before Xmas and each time I have stopped in since they have had it.

And no, I have not purchased one yet, my son is saving his paper route money to get it.

If you live in DC area and want one, that is the place.

well alrighty then, thanks for the tip. Good job on making your son suffer, er build character. The first big thing I ever bought with my paper route money 21 years ago was...a Nintendo entertainment system Smiling
