Sci-Fi LARP: Eclipse

It's time for the "Tiassa random blog entry of the month!" This time, it's photos of Eclipse, another LARP but one set in the Sci-fi genre. (Yes, we're in a dance club). There was a "pit fight," complete with techno fight-music and somebody who'd yell "FIGHT!" before every match.

Be warned, there are A LOT of photos. A bit more than a hundred, if you must know. But just in case you're not completely bored at work, here's one of the best:

Clearly, the Imperium is going to conquer the galaxy if for no other reason than the shaggin' outfits.

OK, Tiassa, the outfits DO

OK, Tiassa, the outfits DO rock - did you make them yourself?

Nice to see something besides fantasy LARPS... didn't know these existed. The nerf guns are a neat idea for firearms too. How much do you actually use the firearms in the scenario?

Eclipse

We use the NERF guns quite a bit-- thankfully, we have several people involved in the game who love modding NERF guns (removing air restrictors, putting in higher-tension springs, and of course painting them up a bit) which makes it TONS of fun. It's no fun when you have a wimpy gun, and some people tote around crazy guns and fire a couple hundred rounds per 1-day scenario. It's not as military-crazy as paintball, but then again it's not supposed to be.

As the Red Button Costume Director, I come up with a lot of the designs-- but I admit that I try to use as much "found" costuming as possible (while I do have a pattern for the jacket, it's easier to just go buy one in most cases). For example, here's the costume rough for the Imperium Officers: Imperium Officers' Dress Sketch. Jason found this awesome leather coat which promptly got integrated into the costume because it was just too cool to let go by. Frankly, one of the reasons I love Sci-Fi LARPs is because you can use VELCRO and ZIPPERS and such. Eye-wink

I once played a apocolyptic

I once played a apocolyptic LARP that used foam rubber balls in (tuned down) paintball guns and/or nerf gun (nerf was considered a dart weapon, where the paintball ones were full firearms)... that was fun!
