Woot! I win!
So as some of you know, I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo this year (national novel writing month). In a nutshell, it's a once a year event where you have 30 days to write 50,000 words, or a short novel. You can outline your story beforehand, write up characters, plan your plot, but you can't produce any of the novel before november 1st, and you must verify it by midnight on november 30 ti be considered a winner. You compete against yourself, no one else. And you don't really win anything unless you count satisfaction and pride and all kinds of warm fuzzies.
I found out about this event on November 7th, and completed it tonight, November 26th. I'm gonna call that a big fat WOOHOO in my book! It was a lot of fun, and I learned a good deal about how to sit down and produce writing, even when I'm feeling stumped, blocked, or just plain old not creative.
My story is not done, but now that I have an idea how to go about challenging myself to write, I'm looking forward to completing it. Anyone who aspires to write a novel of their own, you MUST do this next year. It's awesome! ![]()
