Taking a Hiatus

So late last night I started looking at my life... Thanks to an email from a friend of mine letting me know that a mutual friend of ours got killed by a train this past weekend (ruled accident not suicide, she was also only a year older than me (26)), and getting an email from my dad who is spending a good portion of his retirement up north at the lake house where he is doing what he loves working on trains and enjoying the fresh air.

Well anyways, the combination of the two emails got me thinking about what I am doing with my life. I have decided, and this was not something I came to lightly or easily, that I am going to be putting both my WoW account and my Internet on hold. Those of you who know me know that I don't have cable or a DVR, I have always used Hulu to keep up with my shows. So between all the things I use the internet for and the time I spend in front of the computer, I am going to try to do other things.

Know that this decision has nothing to do with any of you. It is something I must do for myself. Scarab is a second home for me with all my friends in the guild. I will still try to keep in contact through the forums and on FB. however both will be extremely limited due to restrictions of the network at work.

As for how long this time away from the internet lasts... I don't know yet.

It will be a few days before the internet is shut off so I will probably be on tonight and tomorrow to tie up loose ends on my characters.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, that's really tragic. I hope you find some peace with this time away. We'll be here if you need us and I wish you all the best.

Quiet

Taking some quiet time can be good for reflection. As long as the removal of the net doesn't sever the connections to other people that are important in your life, it may be a productive move for you. As mentioned already, we'll be here when you need us. Enjoy your meditations.

I decided as I was talking

I decided as I was talking to some people last night that completely cutting the internet wasn't a good thing. What I did instead is lower my service to 1/3'rd of what it was before to help cut cost of not using it as much. So all connections through online will still be there. Just not at the super blazing fast speed I had before.
