I stayed up till 3 am-ish to watch it a 2nd time.

it was worth it.

nukes, a peace, an end to the peace.

the one thing you don't know is the cylon ideology behind the behavior at the end. Did the war heroes win over the old guard, or does this reflect something new?

What a superb episode. The last half hour was like watching a bizzaro BSG. Chief Tyrol- a union leader on the surface of New Caprica, with a pregnant Callie next to him. Kara married to a sick Anders. Dualla promoted to Pegasus' XO, under Lee. The Galactica and Pegasus jumping away with a few other ships. Where do they go and what do they do with skeleton crews?

How am I going to manage not being able to watch for seven months? Mad

While it was an awesome episode, I have to wonder if Adama isn't kicking himself for his decision to go against the greater good in the election incident which results in the suffering and turmoil we see one year later.

Also I would question how president Baltar was allowed to fall into such a pathetic position when Roslin was constantly strutanized by the military and querem of twelve?

That and tha fact that he is once again responcible for dooming the human race...betrayed by the cylon he saved/loved...

I SO cannot wait to see the next season!!!

Ah, damn, I missed it, completely forgot. I guess I'll catch the encore on Monday.

The last half hour build for next season was just amazing...

I think we have now seen 7 versions of the human cylons...was so sure that Dean Stockwell was a cylon when he appeared last episode.

7 friggin months...dang.

i think much of the friday night wiping and dying may have been due to bsg distraction.

BSG season finale is NOT MC raid compatible.

Maska's picture

Just caught the writeup (at http://galacticastation.com/) on this... a Freespace 2 based module of all BSG!

http://www.game-warden.com/bsg/

The emo movies kick some serious frakkin butt

Twisted Evil

ozwyn's picture

yeah but finding freespace 2 can be a pain, too bad too since it ewas the next best thiong to the wing commander games
edit: note- I only did freespace 1, I may hunt down freespace 2 because I recall freespace 1 being a superb sci-fi flight sim and it smoked the xwing/tie series and had original content.

Chryse's picture

I think I still have my copy of Freespace 2 lying around somewhere. Very happy

LaHa's picture

Shocked You people obviously didn't read the full description of the game; it will be a FULL playable version WITHOUT the need to have freespace 2.

I will predict when a "working" beta of this comes out (note they did mention multiplayer...) Dolvin will want this BSG fighter game as a SCARABFEST option for a guild dogfight or two.

Season 3?

So, I have been too lazy to look it up, but when is Season 3 scheduled to start airing?

ozwyn's picture

I think it is around

I think it is around october/november or something.... it is torture.

ozwyn's picture

I think it depends on how

I think it depends on how well the pull off the next season opener... the season finale was much more "half" a finale than the last one in terms of feeling lost in the plotline.

some of the ship command changes over the year made sense because it looked like a majority of the military left service when the cylons announced the war was over.

I do not think the cylons really did end the war. They just knew a false truce would lure them to complacency, and they were likely aware from the cylon agent who nuked herself up the humans had found what looked like a likely homeworld. By nuking herself she revealed their location, they did remote observation for a few months and knew the fleet wasn't moving and then swooped in for the prize. I think they hid the plan in a lie based around the semi-rebellion from the cylons who had become "too attached" to humanity. (I loved the episode where Baltar was in HER head....)

I sadly suspect firefly will remain dead (damned shame too)

I believe the only way for the fleet to try and retake the colony is to temporarily abandon everything but the 2 battlestars in order to fully crew them for an attack.

I would also not be surprised if they write-out the pegasus by using it as a decoy with little or no crew to draw fire and basestars while the galactica and all the fighters and vipers run a rescue op. (I could see using some of the remaining fleet also used in such a capacity)

from a strategic standpoint, knowing that there is an extended cease-fire would have been a real good time to breakdown and rebuild fleet ships for a smaller (in numbers but not capacity) but better equipped and armed fleet. Fewer ships, more flexibility and better defenses would have been my chain of thought.

I would expect some of the fleet reductions might have been forced by Baltar by "requisitioning" manpower and resources from the fleet to support ground operations, which probably set off a exodus from the military.

Since the writing up to date has been incredible, I am hoping they maintain their great track record.

The S2 finale was odd...

...I'll give you that. Timeshifting forward like that is a risky move because there is so much shakeup to absorb. Why have so many of the military left service and moved down to the planet? When did Chief Tyrol and Callie's relationship heat up to the point they are now married and have a bun in the oven? When did Starbuck and her pyramid-playing beau tie the knot? How did Dualla move up from a non-comm bridge communications tech to an officer aboard Pegasus (relationship with Apollo notwithstanding)?

So much going on. Unless Ron Moore plans on having numerous flashback episodes it may just leave views confused. I still love the show and the way S2 ended really has me wanting to see how it all will be resolved.

Spoilers on season

Check it out...

Tonight at 9pm est on Sci Fi is a show called Eureka. They are playing an extended preview of the newest season of BSG!!! Check it out, Eureka looks kinda cute (reminds me of Erie Indiana, neone remember that show) but I figure an hour to watch a three or four min. spot on BSG is well worth it.

Also.. there is news that when season three starts up the first episode will be two hours long, set your tivo boxes to overdrive Very happy

The week of

... took long enough but here we are the week of the new episode. After watching the webisodies over and over, im ready to see whats up. Gonna have it on streaming video to my labtop while sitting on my desktop running MC that evening. What a blast this will be, I have my popcorn ready and two four packs of starbucks frappas in my minifridge in my office. Remember to set your tivos accordingly as its a two hour season release Very happy This show is great, I hated with a passion the season ender from last season though. Heres why...

What sense does it make... lets get off our fully furnished battleship where we are protected with various weaponry and crew and go live like hobbits on the surface of some nasty planet while the aka president sits in his tent with hookers all day and eats metaphorical bonbons till the cylons finally find us. Sure that was smart. WTF... Adama shoulda blown him up or something. So I say screw it, go judge dredd on his ass but for god sake SHAVE OFF YOUR MUSTACHE... he looks like what I would assume a chester the child molestor would look like. Maybe the redeeming will begin straight away this season, we can only hope.

New Caprica is a relative Club Med

I don't know about you, but I've been stuck on long roadtrips from minivans, to buses, trains and to RV's. After being stuck in one contained area for a few hours I couldn't wait to stretch my legs, feel a cool breeze on my face, or just get away from the same people I've been looking at (or, worse, smelling).

Multiply that by unending crowding, lack of amenities and the threat of obliteration by the Cylons-- over a period of several months-- and I couldn't blame all of those refugees for wanting even the small improvement of New Caprica, especially if I were assured that the Cylons couldn't find them there.

Those people on the ground were "lucky" they were found by the kinder, gentler Cylons who were slightly less inclined to strafe them all into oblivion.

As for Admiral Adama's Ron Jeremy 'stache, yeah, that just has to go. I'm having my own flashbacks of Adama's pre-Galactica flashbacks with Tigh on the merchant ship. And did you get a load of Apollo? Now that he's nabbed Dualla, he's let himself go. Check out the video diary of Jamie Bamber and the "fat makeup".
